You are here because at least one of our values aligned and you felt a connection to an element of who we are and what we do at The Root Cellar.

It is important to us that whatever brought you here be just the seed of why you love working here. For that seed to flourish and grow, we think it’s important that you hear from us regularly, that you get to understand the who, what, where, and when but most importantly the WHY behind The Root Cellar. Our values are what connect us to each of you and to our community; these are the things that light us up, and that inform the decisions we make, and they are what we want our team and our customers to experience when under our roof.

It is with great enthusiasm that we share a number of changes to our organizational structure soon to come into effect.

FIRSTLY we are welcoming a COO to the team on Monday June 12th. Dave Ramsay, a seasoned leader with extensive experience in the grocery sector, will be joining us as Chief Operating Officer (COO) starting June 12th. His professional journey includes substantial leadership roles in Thrifty Foods & Sobeys Inc. (25 years), where he served in various capacities, progressively moving from customer-facing roles to operations leadership and divisional oversight. His deep understanding of the grocery business and its unique challenges will be invaluable to our team.

SECONDLY, during the process of preparing for this new role, it became apparent that a secondary role was also needed in order to get us where we want to go (thriving!). So we are ALSO announcing the promotion of Susie Matthews to Retail Operations & Marketing Manager. The Susie you all know and love has been growing with us since 2017, is a marketing and communications master with a sharp eye for details, and high set of standards. What you don’t know about Susie is that she comes from an extensive background in operations in the UK, a skillset that we have only just begun to tap and that we are confident will light up our lives! In this role Susie will have oversight over both store operations as well as maintaining oversight of the Marketing team. She will work closely with Dave and in collaboration with our Head Office Team to ensure that our store teams are supported and thriving. Susie’s role will be in effect June 4th!

AND since change is in the air, we are also sharing that Stuart Devereaux’ training will be moving to our Oxford Corner location where he will be stepping into the role of Store Manager.

Please join us as we warmly welcome Dave to The Root Cellar family, and celebrate internal growth + development. We are confident that you can look forward to both exciting and rewarding times ahead!

COOK ST. BLOCK PARTY

We are thrilled to announce that we will once again be participating in The Cook Street Block Party this year, taking place this Sunday, June 11th! The event will feature a live music stage, food trucks, local artisans, and a variety of activities for people of all ages. During the event, we will be serving delicious food, selling our iconic sassy swag, and running a ‘blast from the past’ colouring contest!

We’d love to see you – pop by, say hi and spread a little sunshine with us in front of our city mouse in the heart of the Cook St. Village! We’ll be out on the street full smiles and slinging Green Sauce all afternoon!
