The Root Cellar was founded by Adam + Daisy Orser back in 2008, born out of a passion for local produce, grocery and sustainable agriculture; this remains at the very heart of the business today.
In late 2025, The Root Cellar transitioned to an exciting employee ownership model, signifying a new season for our little market.

From our local first sourcing approach and our waste reduction + recycling program through to our beloved rooftop bees, caring for our planet is at the heart of our day-to-day work.

We have two store locations: our flagship market at the corner of McKenzie + Blenkinsop, as well as our ‘city’ location in the heart of Cook Street Village. Both are open daily, from 8am-9pm.
