Hey RC Team,

We’re excited to bring you the September edition of the Cantaloop Team Member Newsletter! 🍂

We’re FALLing head over heels for the arrival of cozy, crisp days and all the tasty treats that come with them (yes, we’re talking about you, pumpkin spice!). 🎃🧡

What are you most looking forward to with the change of season? For us, it’s an easy answer—hello, new crop Okanagan apples! How we’ve missed you! 🍏✨

Now, enough about our love for the autumn harvest. Let’s dig into what’s new! 💪

TM ANNOUNCEMENTS

At the heart of some of the changes we’ve been seeing around here are our amazing Team Members! Here are the movers and shakers amongst us this month!

Say hello to Mike Cooper! 👋

We’re thrilled to welcome the newest member of The Root Cellar family—Mike Cooper! Mike joined us on Monday, August 26th, stepping into the role of our new Retail Operations Manager.

With over 20 years of experience in Retail and Operational Management in both Victoria and Edmonton, Mike brings a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective to our team. 💪

In his new role, Mike will joins our leadership team, overseeing the operations of both Root Cellar locations.

And here’s a fun tidbit—rumour has it that Mike might be a bit of a gardener himself, possibly even growing his own figs! Be sure to ask him about it! 🌱

Let’s all give Mike a warm Root Cellar welcome and help him feel right at home! 🌿

Hip Hip Hooray For Danny Cronk! 🥳

We’re beyond excited to announce that Danny Cronk has been promoted to the brand-new role of Produce Operations Manager! In this role, Danny will be overseeing produce operations and Team Members across both of our locations.

Danny has been with The Root Cellar for almost 13 years—ever since Darin and Phil brought him on board as a produce stocker, he’s been a core part of our team! Over the years, he’s become our go-to guru for all things fruits and veggies. Need to know when the chanterelles are arriving, what radicchio tastes like, or when to expect the first Okanagan apples? Danny’s got you covered!

A few fun facts: Danny is a lifelong Victorian, has a growing flock of ducks, and is the proud dad of two sweet little ones. 🦆💚

We are so thrilled for Danny and this well-deserved promotion. Let’s all give him a huge congratulations and support him as he steps into this exciting new role! 🌿

NEW IN STORE…. RIGHT THIS MINUTE!

It’s not just our Team Members that have seen some exciting changes lately—our stores have, too! More specifically, what’s in them! Let’s talk about some of the new items that have just hit our shelves! 🙌

Hello Okanagan Grown Apples!

Okanagan apples are back and better than ever! 🍏🍎 The season is in full swing, and our bins are overflowing with all your favourites—Gala, Ambrosia, Fuji, Spartan, Macintosh, and more. Crisp, juicy, and bursting with flavour, these BC beauties are a must-have this season. Enjoy eaten out of hand, dipped in your fave nut butter or baked into a glorious warm crumble. 🥧

MARK YOUR CALENDARS 🗓️

From Hive to Honey Jar! 🍯

Back in June, we introduced you to our buzzing bee friends, and now it’s time to enjoy the honey they’ve worked so hard to create! Join us and our expert beekeeper, Francesco, on Saturday, October 5th, from 1 pm – 2 pm at our flagship store at McKenzie Corner (we’ll be cozied up in The Potting Shed).

During this hands-on honey extraction workshop, you’ll learn the magic of uncapping honeycomb cells, spinning them in a centrifugal extractor, and filtering the liquid gold before jarring it up. Francesco will guide us through every sticky (and fun!) step.

If you’d like to join in on the adventure, please register here.

On Thursday October 3rd, from 7-9pm in The Potting Shed, think grazing board of your dreams, cheese mountains for days and all around fun (we’ve even got prizes, too!). Keep an eye out as our invites are heading out soon!

We hope to see you there! 🤍
