When we opened The Root Cellar 12 years ago, we came to a city we were completely unfamiliar with because ‘the people felt right’.  We opened a store that WE wanted to shop in & work in, in the hopes that it would attract the like minded; in both customer and staff. The power of attraction is a formidable force and we feel so lucky to be surrounded by a team (and a community) that shares our values.

We know you hear us talk about our passion for local food, for mealtime, for food & planetary sustainability and for eradicating food insecurity, but we recently took the time along with our Management Team to define our values – the fire that fuels what we do. We are confident that each of you shares at LEAST one of these beliefs… and that is what brought you to us. We never in a million years thought we’d be putting ‘the power of green sauce’ on a list of values – but that stuff is pure magic and if a love of GREEN SAUCE is the THING we have in common with you, it’s not small!
