At the Root Cellar, we’re all about showcasing the most intriguing, exciting and delicious local products. We LOVE an opportunity to celebrate our island’s incredible food scene, and we LOVE helping you discover the things that make your heart and taste buds sing!

Demo Days are a fundamental part of that: they’re where we invite you to come to our stores and sample something delightful, whether it be a dollop of artisan chutney, a piece of island-made cheese or a handful of a new popcorn flavour. It’s our way of saying ‘we love this and we think you will too!’

We’ve been running demos since day one, but we’re so happy to share that they’ve become a much more regular fixture on our calendar and you can now expect to see them every weekend in both store locations! You read that right: EVERY WEEKEND you can pop in to either our McKenzie Corner or Oxford Corner store and try something new, local and oh-so-yummy.

Better still, you’ll get to meet the lovely people behind the product – the founders, innovators, makers and producers from your community who put food on our shelves and on your table. Hear their stories, share their passion and take note of their tips for how to pair that seasoning, craft the perfect nachos or curate the dreamiest cheese board.

We have such a glorious lineup of demos planned for you over the coming weeks. From Cultured Kombucha’s delicious brews made right here in Victoria to Urban Forage’s punchy condiments and Island Farmhouse Poultry’s locally-raised chicken, there’s something for everyone to get excited about.

There will also be the chance to sample some of our house products, including our iconic Green Sauce (because you either love Green Sauce or you haven’t tried it yet – trust us!) and our Chop Shop cheeses.

All you need to do is show up, bring your readiness to try something new and your reusable bag just in case you’re inspired to do some shopping and want to buy some delights to take home with you!
