Victoria, BC – The Root Cellar Village Green Grocer and the Rainbow Kitchen are proud to announce the 10-year anniversary of their successful partnership – Filling Bellies and Feeding Souls.

The Root Cellar Village Green Grocer is a locally owned market specializing in locally grown and organic produce, while the Rainbow Kitchen is a non-profit community organization providing meals, groceries, and other resources to the food insecure. Together, they have been able to make a significant impact in the community by providing fresh healthy food to those who need it most.

For over 10 years, over 500 pounds of fresh produce has been provided to the Rainbow Kitchen by the Root Cellar each and every week to support daily in house meals and food hampers (that’s over 250,000 POUNDS of fresh veggies). In addition to these weekly donations of fresh food, The Root Cellar has matched dollar for dollar customer donations during holiday season campaigns at their now two store locations. This, combined with cash donations received throughout the year now totals over $100,000!

“We are thrilled to have been able to make such a positive impact in our community through this partnership,” said

Daisy Orser, owner of The Root Cellar Village Green Grocer. “We look forward to continuing our work with the Rainbow Kitchen for many years to come and are excited to see what the future holds.”

The Rainbow Kitchen’s Executive Director, Patrick Johnstone, added, “The Rainbow Kitchen is incredibly grateful for the support of the Root Cellar Village Green Grocer over the last decade. Their commitment to providing healthy and locallysourced food has been a major contributor to our ability to feed those in need in our community.”

The partnership between The Root Cellar Village Green Grocer and Rainbow Kitchen serves as a shining example of how businesses and non-profits can work together to make a positive impact on the community.
