Dear RC Community,

We hear you, and we’re here to help you navigate shopping local and Canadian in our markets.
You’ll have spotted some changes in our stores. There are smaller things like Canadian flags on our shelves and extra signs to indicate anything that’s Canadian grown or made. Then there are bigger, huge in fact things like looking to alternative suppliers for our produce. You’re going to see more options from Chile, Morocco, and of course our friends in Mexico, but we encourage you now as always, before you pick up that imported orange to consider one of the 10 varieties of Canadian apples on our shelves.

These changes are alongside the things we’ve always done, like having country of origin on our produce signs, often farm name, sometimes farmer’s name. We’re proud to have relationships with over 250 local and BC farmers and we’ll take any opportunity we can to tell you all about them.

As always, we want you to know who grew and made your food. We know that you’re wanting to support local more than ever. We’re hearing your enthusiasm for all things Canadian, and we’re happy to make it easy for you.
As a small business, we’re very nimble and we will continue to help you make informed choices and to shout from the rooftops about how great local tastes.

What truly matters has always mattered, and our ability to engage and impact also remains the same. We’re just experiencing a call to action, so let’s act. Let’s vote with our forks, as they say.

Spring plants and bulbs are in ABUNDANCE at the Potting Shed right this minute! Here are some early flowering lovelies that need to be on your planting list this month 👀🌿

1. Known as the Winter Jewel of the Garden, Hellebores typically bloom between February - May. Not only are they beautiful but they’re also deer resistant, which is a big win for any Victoria gardener! 🦌

2. If only you could smell these gorgeous Hyacinths through Instagram…They’re some of the easiest to grow spring perennial bulbs, and are the perfect way to spread a little sunshine!☀️
