Hi Root Cellar Community,
And just like that autumn descends in a veil of smoke. A heartbreaking though fitting shift into a season of coziness and comfort, darkening evenings, slippers and family meals. As we creep toward Thanksgiving it’s time for us to start wetting your taste buds for all the delicious flavours of fall (squash! root crops! turkey! soups!), but our hope is to also conjure a longing for long meals savoured with those you love… which is the best of any holiday, of any season, and really, of life.
For me, darker evenings come with less urgency to be productive and a greater longing for cozy slippers, long meals and sobremesa, that time after the meal when you don’t rush to clear the table because you have things to do but instead stay connected to those you’ve broken bread with and wallow in it.
So here’s to wallowing… or at least dreaming of it.
