Hi Root Cellar Community,
Those of you, like us, that haven’t been isolating at home due to your work demands, must really be looking forward to this long weekend ahead. It is quite a personal conundrum for me to be balancing isolation-envy (when do I get to learn to crochet and organize my garage, and bake scratch cinnamon buns?!), with sheer gratitude that our business remains open, that our staff and customers want to be here (THANK YOU!), and that our kids are big enough to be able to manage themselves at home, and even start dinner from time to time.
Family time this weekend will be very different for all of us and this Easter will not be one that we ever forget, but from over here, behind our fierce commitment to the values of mealtime, our wish for each of you remains the same; that this weekend is what you need it to be.
If you need a hot bath and macaroni & cheese, maybe that’s the fun story you get to tell your grandchildren about the Easter of Covid-19. But if you need to get your feast on, then do it. Go crazy, cook all day, eat all the chocolate, open that special bottle of wine, but please don’t invite your loved ones. Love them and leave them, in isolation. Eat the whole cake with your immediate family. I can’t wait to hear the stories of freshly minted Easter traditions… I’ll tell you mine if you tell me yours.
Facts not fear, clean hands, open hearts.
